An Interfaith Event in Washington DC
On Sunday, September 27th, 2015 ten different faith communities of Washington, DC opened their doors as open houses to walkers of all backgrounds, cultures and belief, down a magnificent mile of Massachusetts Avenue. 30,000 pounds of potatoes arrived on a truck from Maine, and were distributed to kitchens serving the homeless and hungry. And the Islamic Center of Washington made a historic moment by welcoming Pope Francis on their south lawn, with the live stream of the Pope's final mass in the US before departing to Rome.
Warm Gratitude to the following faith communities who continue to open their doors to each other and the world:
Washington Hebrew Congregation
Embassy Pentacostal Evangelical Church
Annunciation Catholic Church
Sikh Gurdwara
Washington National Cathedral
Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Community of Christ Church
Saint Nicholas Cathedral Orthodox Church in America
Soka Gakkai International Buddhist Center
Islamic Center of Washington
